Salt Lake City Business Recycling Ordinance

Salt Lake City is working to get the word out about the new business recycling ordinance which took effect this year ( They’re offering two upcoming workshops to educate businesses and property managers about the ordinance, who it affects, and how to implement a recycling program.

Utah Gay Wedding Expo Connects Couples, Friendly Businesses

Jason Langlois and Will Bladh are in the early stages of making plans for their summer 2017 wedding, and they don't want their excitement pierced by the pain of being rejected by a venue, florist and photographer who have a legal right in Utah to refuse to serve a gay couple.

That's why they joined several hundred people Sunday at a gay and lesbian wedding expo in Salt Lake City aimed at connecting couples with businesses who want to make it known they're open to doing same-sex weddings.

Survey ranks Salt Lake City’s LGBT population 7th among top 50 metro areas



A new national survey ranks Salt Lake City's population of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender adults as seventh highest among the top 50 U.S. metropolitan areas — a finding that may surprise only those who live outside the Beehive State.

"We've long known that Salt Lake City has a high LGBT population," Troy Williams, executive director of Equality Utah, said. "But when I meet people elsewhere and they find out I'm from Salt Lake City, they are always so concerned and say, 'Your job must be so hard.'

"They don't realize what a gay-affirming and gay-friendly city Salt Lake has become."
